March 2016 - Know Your Worth – You were Created for Greatness

Today ends National Women's History Month. In reviewing the accomplishments of those magnificent women who came before me, I am in awe of their sacrifices, persistence, intentions and actions. What makes these great women different from me? Many did not have the opportunities I currently have, yet they made it to the hall of fame and left an incredible legacy for me to learn from and share with others.  I sum it up by stating they did what needed to be done, with many not even realizing the impact they have made and will make on future generations.

The way we perceive our own self-worth as a person has a profound influence on every aspect of our life. Understanding our self-worth should not be based on who I am with or who I am surround by. My self-worth is not determined by what I do in my life as my personal or career choice. For certain, my self-worth should not be measured by my financial status. In the same vein, my self-worth is not determined by my meager or many accomplishments. What does matter in determining my self-worth is who I am down in my core beliefs about myself and the person God has made me to be.  I must believe and know with all of my heart:

I am God’s masterpiece. (Ephesians 2:10)

I am in Christ, a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

I am made in God’s very image. (Genesis 1:26-27

I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and all the days of my life were written in God’s book before I were ever born, confirming God’s prior knowledge and plan for My life. (Psalm 139:13-16)

God gave me such sweet assurance because he loves me to life. I truly am a recipient of all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. God chose me before the foundations of the earth were ever formed. (Ephesians 1:3-4)

My value to Him is priceless and He has shown me my worth through the birth, death, burial and resurrection of His Son, Jesus. He paid a debt no one else could pay and there is no more condemnation about anything for all times before or times to come. This means that I am free from all earthy hang ups and put downs – forever. My self-worth is not defined by other people! It is defined by who God says that I am!

Today, I invite you to take time to express your gratitude to God for all that he has done and continues to do in your life. Start giving back to others who need a hand-up and a hand out. We were created for greatness and to be a blessing for others. As you consider how you will strive to move forward in understanding your self-worth, consider these questions as a catalyst for change and momentum for growth. When you are clear about whose you are and where you are going, you can set a course that enhances your destiny for the plans God has made for you.

What determines your worth?

How do you measure your self-worth?

What do you believe about yourself?

Are you where you desire to be in life?

What matters most to you about you?
